Lake Varese is situated at the foot of the Varesine Prealps at an altitude of 238 m above sea level. With a surface area of 14.95 km2, it has an average depth of 11 m and a maximum depth of 26 m. I consider it to be one of the most beautiful lakes as far as landscape is concerned. Unfortunately its water has been subjected to large amounts of pollution which has considerably reduced its potential. Nevertheless, it is home to large black bass and pike as well as fair-sized zander. Target fish: black bass, pike, zander and Wels catfish.
